Mother raises funds for son's disease

Beth Kilgore of Moorpark will run in the Disneyland Half Marathon on Aug. 31 as part of Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy's Run for Our Sons team to raise funds and awareness for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the most common lethal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood today.

Kilgore is running on behalf of her son, Andrew, who will be a sixth-grader at Chaparral Middle School.

The Moorpark mother, along with her sister, Amy Brand of Sacramento, and friend, Paula Popp of Seattle, has formed Team Andrew, with a goal of raising $5,000 disease research, treatment and patient care.
